My New Year’s resolution: get better at dialogue. The best way to do that? Talk to people. Or, rather, have them talk to you. Actually listen. And write it down.
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been writing snippets of conversations with the intent of illustrating them. To be honest, most of them are pretty boring or don’t make much sense – a talk about moving the car, getting groceries, why ducks are different colors (jury’s still out).
The ones I actually thought were funny (and drew for you today) ultimately aren’t grand moments of communication. They all focus on one person speaking, trying to get something across to someone else with varying degrees of success. But I think it still counts as dialogue nonetheless.
What do you think? Let’s start a ~dialogue. If you’re so inclined: Lmk in the comments.
It’s been… a week in Los Angeles. I don’t have much intelligent to say about it other than thank you for reaching out to check in with me, Rajiv, and Sneakers during the fire spread. We’re doing good back in our apartment, safe and sound.
If you have the means to help support some others that were not so lucky, please consider donating! I’ve donated to Fugu Fugu Press, a letterpress print shop in Altadena, and Grief and Hope, a volunteer group distributing funds to LA art workers who’ve lost their homes. I also recommend sharing this master spreadsheet of GoFundMe campaigns around – pick one, donate , and share to someone else who wants to help out.
As always, thanks for reading. Stay safe out there, friends. <3

I LOOOOVE THESE. The image adds so much to the dialogue
